Please join the College of Health and Human Sciences on CSU’s 2023 Day of Giving by supporting our student emergency hardship fund - Lighten the Load. Unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, injury, job loss, or family crisis creates financial stress for many individuals, and our students are no exception. With over 5,500 students in the College and 27% identifying as first-generation, the need for emergency financial assistance is great. We launched the Lighten the Load fund to support students’ immediate emergency needs. Since the fund’s creation in August of 2020, Lighten the Load has supported nearly 360 CHHS students with small grants that provide relief for monthly expenses and emergency bills. Alumni and donor support of Lighten the Load helps CHHS students cover emergency costs that might jeopardize their ability to stay in school.
“I am living on my own this semester and am putting myself through school. This money would help me focus on my studies instead of worrying about whether I’ll be able to afford to live in Fort Collins. It seems it is getting more and more expensive to do so, but I truly want to remain at CSU in the education program. - Lighten the Load beneficiary
With your support, this fund will make a difference this year and beyond to support CHHS students during any type of unforeseen financial crisis or hardship during their time at CSU.
During the 2022 CSU Day of Giving, 74 CHHS donors raised $9,200 which provided support to the Lighten the Load Fund. This year, we are asking our college community to come together and help us exceed this number so we can provide our students with much needed emergency financial hardship support.
Give today and help our students receive immediate support at a time when they are most vulnerable for dropping out. Thank you for your generosity and support of CSU!
